About this procedure
LASEK removes only the corneal epithelium (no flap), making it ideal for thin corneas, contact sports athletes, or military applicants. Excimer laser reshapes the cornea and the epithelium regenerates in 4-7 days.
Procedure
1. Full eye exam
2. Numbing drops and alcohol-soaked sponge to loosen epithelium
3. Excimer laser ablation
4. Bandage contact lens for 4-7 days
Recovery & Aftercare
- 3-5 days of discomfort, light sensitivity, blurry vision
- Antibiotic and steroid drops for several weeks
- Strict sun protection and limited screen time for 1 week
- Stable vision in 1-3 months
